Naan is a type of bread that originated in South Asia and is now most commonly associated with Indian cuisine. There are several different traditional Indian entrées that are perfectly accompanied by naan bread:
Aloo Mutter:
This curry dish originated in the area called Punjab, which is located in modern-day Pakistan and India. Curry dishes contain a blend of spices that includes cardamom, coriander, fennel, turmeric, and cumin. The primary ingredients in aloo mutter are potatoes and peas; chilies, onions, and tomatoes are also included in the dish. Aloo mutter is a simple entrée to prepare and it goes perfectly with low-carb naan bread.
Tandoori Chicken:
Another popular dish with Eastern origins is tandoori chicken. Tandoori dishes were traditionally prepared in a tandoor, or clay oven. Though your home may not be equipped with a clay oven, you can still create a delicious and easy tandoori chicken dish by marinating chicken in a combination of yogurt, lime juice, and spices and baking it in an oven at a high temperature. If you do not know what spices to use for your tandoori chicken, try garam masala—this common spice mixture is perfect for infusing dishes with an exotic flavor.
Paneer Tikka Masala:
For another dish that incorporates garam masala, try paneer tikka masala, which is made by marinating pieces of paneer—a type of cheese that originated in India—in a mixture of vegetables and spices. These marinated pieces are called tikka, and are served in a type of gravy called masala that contains garam masala, cream, and butter. Paneer tikka masala is a fairly spicy dish that is complemented well by the mild and subtle flavors of naan bread.

The panini is a type of sandwich that is pressed between two hot grills. It originated in Italy during the 20th century, and has been popularized by the availability of panini presses. At Joseph’s Bakery, we provide
panini diamond bread that is perfect for the following grilled creations:
Caprese Panini:
Inspired by the Caprese salad, this panini contains mozzarella cheese, tomato slices, and fresh basil leaves. For best results, brush the inside of the panini bread with olive oil before putting the sandwich together.
Italian Melt Panini:
If you’re looking for a more substantial panini, try this Italian melt recipe. Like the Caprese panini, this sandwich echoes the flavors of the panini’s Italian origins. Brush both olive oil and red wine vinegar on the inside of your bread, and then fill the sandwich with slices of provolone cheese, salami, turkey, ham, and pepperoncini.
Three Cheese Panini:
The three cheese panini is similar to a classic grilled cheese, but with a gourmet flavor. First, brush the inside of your bread slices with pesto. Next, layer slices of mozzarella, fontina, and asiago cheese between the bread—you can also try adding a few basil leaves. Once pressed, the cheeses will melt together to create a unique and delightful sandwich.
Pesto Turkey Panini:
For something a bit lighter, try a pesto turkey panini. This panini is similar to the Caprese, as it contains mozzarella, basil, and tomato. However, replacing the olive oil with pesto and adding of slices of roast turkey breast give this sandwich an entirely different flavor.
No matter what panini you are in the mood for, Joseph’s Bakery’s panini diamond bread will provide the perfect base to your sandwich. Our bread is not only made specifically for panini sandwiches, but it’s also cholesterol-free! To learn more about our specialty breads, call Joseph’s Bakery today at (978) 237-5924.
